2. Getting started

The first page you see is the welcome message, which gives a brief overview of the systems uses as well as contact details for the staff members responsible for its upkeep.
On the left hand side of the screen you can see when the data was last updated. This is useful for checking that the data you are viewing is up to date.
In the menu on the left-hand side of the screen is the enter button. Clicking this will take you to the first record, and display the search facility.

3. Browsing records

When you click the enter button on the front screen, you will be shown the first record. In the top right, you will be given this set of buttons:

  1. Print the current record - this will format the data for printing and bring up the internet explorer print dialog. Check that the "Only selected frame" option is selected and then click OK. You may see the data layout on the page change. This is to be expected - once the document is printed this should return to the original layout.
  2. First record - this will display the first record.
  3. Previous record - if available, this will go to the previous record. In the example (above), this is a darker colour meaning that it is not available (since this is the first record).
  4. Next record - if available, this will go to the next record.
  5. Last record - this will display the last record.
The last field of each record is called "Questionnaire" and will either say "Not currently available" or "Click here to view questionnaire". If there is a questionaire available, you can click on this field and you will be taken to the questionnaire (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader or similar viewer). The questionnaire contains links to headline survey results, to view click on the question number (Red Box) to launch the headline results to that question.

4. Searching for records

To search for a record, type in:
  • The survey reference
  • Keywords e.g. "Best value"
  • The target audience/methodology/etc.
When searching it is best to use one or two keywords omitting any common words (such as "the", "and", "to", etc.).
e.g. To search for a survey called "Architects and Quantity Surveyors Survey" you could search for it by reference no and enter "Arc001" or you could search by keyword and enter "Architect Quantity Surveyor" or you could search by some other item such as methodology and enter "Businesses".
Results are listed in reference order, with the keywords that they match listed underneath. To view a record from the search results, click on its survey reference. To return to browse mode, click the "enter" button on the left hand side of the screen.
The search is not case sensitive
